Local leisure centre operator Circadian Trust marks tenth anniversary

Circadian Trust1, which runs Active branded Leisure Centres across South Gloucestershire on a not for profit basis, is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Key employees, clubs, trustees and local councillors came together at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre to mark the anniversary and look ahead to the next ten years. Since becoming a trust in 2005, Circadian has successfully transformed the community leisure space in the region through innovation and sustained reinvestment, bringing lasting benefits to its local communities. It has seen:

  • 18% increase in customer uptake to 2.5 million customer visits per year since 2010
  • Growth in turnover by 7.6% to 11 million in the last financial year
  • Since 2006, reinvestment of more than 7 million into initiatives including new sports and leisure facilities and technology such as the MyWellness cloud-based platform which allows users to track activity at home

Chief executive Mark Crutchley, who gave a speech at the celebration event, said:

We have experienced significant changes over the past ten years: when the organisation was founded, it was designed to provide community leisure facilities within a tight framework set by the local authority. Today, as local government funding is continually squeezed, Circadian has evolved to become more commercial and able to respond to significantly changing customer requirements, while continuing to deliver a social impact.

I would like to thank everyone who has been through the doors of all our leisure centres, whether they be staff or customers, for their commitment to a healthy lifestyle. We ve seen so many success stories over the years, and I d like to thank you all for being a part of it. We can t wait for the next ten years.

Working in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council, any profit made by the trust is reinvested to improve facilities, equipment and services for its customers.
