BID: Downtown Auburn Discount Days expanding to food, entertainment – Auburn Citizen

Summer is in full swing in downtown Auburn, so mark your calendars and get ready for some exciting events happening over the next several weeks.

To help kick off the summer, the downtown parking garage will be implementing its two-hour free parking and new rates to help with your parking needs during events and throughout the year.

The city adopted a new rate schedule[1] for the inside upper levels of the Lincoln Street municipal parking garage, effective July 1. Parking is free for the first two hours and capped at $6 a day. The street-level metered section of the garage closest to Exchange Street will remain metered and the two-hour free period does not apply in this area. Long-term parking permits will remain at their current rates. Fees are $50 a month, $135 for three months, $250 for six months and $450 a year. With 20 days of monthly usage, daily rates range from $2.50 to $1.88 per day. Please do your part to share the good news with customers and clients, and encourage use of the garage.

Join us from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 14, in the State Street band shell for the second Music on the Mall of the summer, sponsored by BID and the city of Auburn.

Generation Gap is a five-piece local band from Auburn with three guitarists — Kevin Kiniry, Giovanni Pettigrass and Michael Montagna — plus drummer Sam Chindamo and lead singer Sue Alexander. They play cover hits from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, music sure to get the crowd dancing and singing along! So dust off your dancing shoes and join us for a great night of music and dancing.

Next we will feature downtown Auburn Discount Days July 20-22.

Downtown Auburn is experiencing a wonderful resurgence in business growth, foot traffic and activity. To capitalize on this, we’ve expanded the long-standing event Dollar Days, happening Thursday through Saturday, July 20 through July 22. We’ve increased the number of participants to include more retail stores, entertainment venues and service businesses. Stores will display sale merchandise out in front of their shops, and eateries and businesses will offer a discount, special or coupon to be redeemed.
