this amplifier looks the part ,a real chunky piece of hi-fi , when turned on the valves give a warm red glow .The sound is execellent, a nice deep sound ,it also gives a high definition clear sound I put this through a pair of Cannon speakers that are a good 25 years old and can take a high volume setting ,and as high as you can go there is no reverb at all, the sound stays true and clear .
The only drawback for me is that the unit does not have a pre amp inside so i cannot put my Project turntable through without a seperate pre amp which will cost as much as this amp. So its off to the hi-fi shop for me

I must say I was very impressed with this amp. It has two ECC83 12AX7 valves in the pre amp stage. I replaced these existing Chinese ones for some nice JJ 12AX7 tubes and the sound difference was worth it. The bass was deeper and much tighter and the mid range has also been improved. Replacement is just a matter of removing the case top cover screws and rocking the tubes in a circular motion as you pull upwards. Then just plug in the new ones, again, rocking them slightly. The tubes certainly seem to contribute to the amplifiers warm and full sound.

Don’t be put off by the seemingly high signal to noise ratio in the specs either as this is apparently normal for amplifiers incorporating valves and is a form of harmonic distortion and, if anything, contributes to a more ‘musical’ sound. The build quality is pretty good for the price and it looks appealing enough especially when in use and you get that nice warm glow from the tubes.

I use mine with a Yaqin Tube Buffer also which really opens up the sound even more. It’s perfectly good on it’s own though and more than enough volume for a normal sized room. I read elsewhere that the true output is about 50 watts per channel which seems about right.
